As the year draws to a close, we thought we’d take a moment to look back — on the months that sped by and the days that seemed to drag, on the ups and downs, and on the people that saw us through it all.

Celebrating Family

A new Faherty joined the family! Mike and Hillary welcomed their son Hayes to the world.

Alex and Kerry’s kids got a little older, and quarantine birthdays were celebrated: Ava is now 4, and Riggs turned 2. Plus, everyone got together for  a little (safe) family time.

Making Moves

Despite some of the serious roadblocks this year set in front of us, we opened 8 new Faherty stores in 2020. Two major highlights include our new flagship location on Abbot Kinney in Venice, LA, and two new spots up in the mountains — Jackson Hole and Big Sky.

Our HQ team also adapted to new routines, making the shift from working in our Manhattan offices to dialing in from home. Some things have changed, but plenty of Zoom happy hours, mindfulness sessions, and lunch-and-learns have kept us connected, apart!

Giving Back

This year we partnered with incredible Native designers like  Bethany Yellowtail, the B.Yellowtail Collective, and  Doug Good Feather  to create limited-edition collections and new takes on a couple of Faherty icons. And for every sale of a Native-inspired print, we donated 10% to the Lakota Way Healing Center.

As members of 1% for the Planet — and corporate sponsors of the  Surfrider Foundation  — we’ve also played a role in ensuring that our beaches, oceans, and waterways stay clean, healthy, and safe, for generations to come.

Finding the Sun

While there may have been less facetime, the good vibes were very real: we hosted 65 digital Sun Sessions with  musicians,  entrepreneurs,  chefs, and more.

And at the center of it all were some seriously cool people. Our wanderings may have stayed closer to home this year than in the past, but we produced 5 incredible brand books — along the way we met inspiring  surfers,  writers,  artists,  mechanics,  makers, and  dreamers.

Our community makes everything we do worthwhile, and looking back on 2020 that’s what stands out: our team, our customers, our friends, our family...all of you made this challenging year immeasurably better than it would have been otherwise.
