Made In Japan

It started with a stack of old magazines and books like Free & Easy, Take Ivy, and Ametora, where we saw familiar American style through a completely different lens. Japanese editors had spent decades studying, preserving, and rethinking the styles that caught their attention. Japan has long been a source of inspiration for us, and this time, we wanted to experience that approach to clothing and craft for ourselves. So we went to meet the people making the fabrics, learn from their process, and follow an idea that had been on our moodboards for years.

The craft we saw firsthand in Japan helped shape the pieces in this collection. Our selvedge denim is woven on traditional shuttle looms in Okayama, while the flannel gets its character from a loose, uneven yarn spun by a weaver in Banshu. A Tsuri machine dating back to 1907 knits our hoodie slowly in one continuous tube, eliminating the need for side seams. And for our shibori pieces, fabric is bound and clamped by hand before being dyed in indigo outside Nagoya.
