We believe that the most sustainable clothes are the ones that you keep forever—clothes that you never want to give away, clothes that are made to last. Our number one priority is to craft high quality clothes using the best materials we can find. Our clothes are made for life.
We ascribe to the belief that when you know better, you do better. We are dedicated to learning from scientists, environmentalists, thought leaders in our industry, and our customers on how to be better stewards of our beloved planet.
We are a part of BlueSign, a holistic system that tracks raw materials every step of the supply chain, eliminating harmful chemicals from beginning to end.
We are proud to prioritize the use of natural and sustainable fibers in our clothes. Some of these materials include: Tencel, Organic Cotton, BCI Cotton, GOTS cotton, Modal, Hemp, Recycled Poly, Ethically Sourced Cashmere, Ethically Sourced Alpaca, PrimaLoft.
Our mailers and poly bags are made from recycled and/or renewable materials.
We primarily use refurbished and vintage goods in our HQ and Retail stores, and our team at HQ is proud to compost, recycle, and donate our unneeded fabric scraps to FABSCRAP
Faherty team members embody 5 core values: Be the Best, Deliver on Promises, Stay Authentic, Spread Good Vibes, Better Together. Our team runs internal committees to educate, inform, and inspire each other on sustainability, innovation, and culture. We also host seasonal Soul Food Luncheons to highlight important issues of our time, ranging some social justice initiatives, indigenous issues, and sustainability. We are proud that members of our retail team receive a sustainability welcome kit when the onboard. Each team meeting is concluded with a mindfulness exercise to keep our mind right. Additionally, we host our Sun Sessions which is our event series series anchored on Community Conversation and Creativity.
We give 10% of sales from our native inspired prints to a variety of indigenous organizations (most recently Spirit Horse Nation and Lakota Way Healing Center). The beauty of these prints were inspired by indigenous art and weavings, and thus a portion of these sales rightfully belong to the native community. We also have upcoming partnerships planned with other native designers, and the organizations we support will change accordingly based on these partnerships.
The Fahertys are surfers and much of the inspiration behind the brand is tied to the ocean. We are proud corporate sponsors of the Surfrider Foundation, an organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world's ocean, waves and beaches through a powerful activist network.
We are proud members of 1% for the Planet, a global network of brands and individuals dedicated to donating or volunteering to environmental organizations. We donate 1% of all of our swim sales (our swim material is made primarily of recycled plastic bottles) to environmental organizations and host benefit concerts in support of 1% for the Planet causes.
The Fahertys met Hector Guadalupe in 2019, and he immediately changed their life, both physically and mentally. After being incarcerated for 10 years, Hector left prison dedicated to health and wellness and giving formerly incarcerated people a second chance. He has trained and placed 197 formerly incarcerated men and women in the personal training industry, and none have reoffended. Faherty actively continues to support Second U graduates.
