Our co-founder and Chief Impact Officer, Kerry Docherty, has been a fan of Bethany Yellowtail for years (Bethany at right above, with her business partner, Kim Meraz, at left).
However, it wasn’t until recently that they were connected by Crystal Echo Hawk, founder and CEO of the non-profit IllumiNative — and one of Faherty's newest Board members.
An LA-based designer and entrepreneur, Bethany is from the Crow (Apsaalooke) and Northern Cheyenne (Tsetsehestahese & So’taeo’o) Nations in southeastern Montana. She shares our mission to amplify Native American, First Nations, and Indigenous voices, and has helped to educate the Faherty team on the subject of cultural appropriation.
Bethany is the CEO of her own line, B.Yellowtail, as well as the B.Yellowtail Collective, a brand initiative that sells handmade, heirloom-quality jewelry, textiles, and accessories crafted by Native American artists.

We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve collaborated with Bethany to create four special designs this season — the Faherty X B.Yellowtail Paloma Duster, Park City Poncho, Beanie, and Scarf.
“Our intent in partnering with Faherty on this special collection is to help set a precedent for how the fashion industry can re-imagine its relationship with Native people, communities, and cultural designs in order to benefit America’s first peoples.”
Bethany’s artistic vision and work provide employment for dozens of Indigenous artists, and she’s also active in environmental, voter, and women's rights work.
“We could not have asked for a better partnership; brands like Faherty are helping create economic opportunities for Native-owned businesses. We’re so excited about what the future holds, and by all of the new possibilities in store for other Native people and artists.”
She serves as an unapologetic arbiter of authenticity — a genuine voice who seeks to empower her people through design and representation.
