The Faherty community — our team members, customers, and more — define who we are. This month, we wanted to shine a spotlight on a few of our LGBTQIA+ team members across the country.
Name: Kyler Nichols
Pronouns: He/Him
Role: Boston Interim Store Leader
What do you wish someone had told you when you were younger?
Your life and lifestyle need no explanation to anyone, at any time. What you choose to share with the world is solely up to you. I was made to come out to everyone in my life at a time I did not wish to do so; I wish someone told me I could've said no.
What does it mean to you to be a part of the Faherty community?
Faherty is by far a leader in the retail world doing their best to learn and grow; I've worked for enough bad corporate brands to know. Consistently looking inwards to improve upon awareness and inclusivity. No company will be better, but it is amazing to work for a company who is open and willing to listen.
What is your passion?
The fashion industry — not the ready-to-wear, but the art form of fashion, the performance of runway shows. The inspiration from the real world and how it goes from concept to realized products, and designers’ ripple effect through all of the industry.
What brings you joy?
A good bag and a good shoe. Something nice that makes people look at you kind of funny when you walk by — that's how you know you found something special. (I have a leather Lavin bag that looks like a takeout container, so ridiculous and unpractical, but uniquely amazing.)
What does authenticity mean to you?
Cliché, but it means being unapologetically you. Staying true to who I (you) are as a person, not looking for acceptance of others but leading your life your way.
And check out our Pride Capsule for a few of the styles our teammates are wearing — plus, 50% of the proceeds from it will be donated to The Audre Lorde Project.
