It feels like our summer catalog has been decades in the making. Costa Rica was Mike and Alex’s very first trip outside of the U.S. “We were just 10 years old, so of course we were most excited about the waves. We couldn’t wait to surf Witch’s Rock and Ollie’s Point, breaks made famous in filmmaker Bruce Brown’s iconic movie, The Endless Summer II. But it was the local people— known as ticos—who left the biggest impression on us.”

Consistently ranked one of the happiest countries in the world, people there embrace a pura vida (pure life) philosophy, and measure success not with money or material goods, but quality of life. As we were putting together our summer collection, we knew we had to shoot it in Costa Rica and on people who truly embody the pura vida ethos.

We can’t wait to share their stories and shared commitment to sustainability in the following posts. From growing coffee to designing homes to making music and more, these local legends are changing their communities with their craft.

For now, check out our summer brand book below. Whether you’re glimpsing it at work or flipping through on your phone, we hope it gives you that pure, sun-drenched summer feeling that we love.
