Fashion’s latest It girl, Constanze Saemann, has lived a life most people can only imagine. She left home in Germany at age 12 to pursue a modeling career and spent years navigating Paris runways and New York studios at a fast pace. After long-haul flights, casting calls and photo shoots, Constanze began to crave something different—something slower, softer and more connected. That search brought her to Mallorca, the Balearic island she had loved since childhood.
“Life here feels much slower compared to Paris and New York,” she says. “The days feel longer, and there isn’t that constant rush.” Her mornings begin barefoot in the grass with the Mediterranean sun warming her face and a friendly bray from her donkey announcing the day. In Mallorca, simple rituals like sunlight, quiet moments and connection have replaced the noise of relentless productivity. “People here seem to live more in the moment and value pleasure and connection over constant work,” Constanze shares, her words a gentle reminder of the beauty in slowing down.
Constanze’s shift toward balance and intentional living began years earlier when she studied natural perfumery and naturopathy to find calm amid her fast-paced career. That knowledge evolved into Basium, her line of fragrances and aromatherapy products inspired by nature’s rhythms. “The wild Mediterranean flowers in spring and the herbs that grow all over the island are a big source of inspiration,” she says. Mallorca’s large German community and her own memories of childhood visits make the island feel deeply familiar. The village artisans who still craft goods by hand influence her creative philosophy. That craftsmanship is something she tries to reflect in Basium whenever she can.
Her life now blends glamour and ease, with fashion editorials and fragrance formulas balanced by sunlit days on an island where time seems to stretch. Yet Constanze’s wanderlust remains. Portugal’s rugged coastlines have captured her heart. “My partner is obsessed with surfing, so I’ve explored quite a bit of the coast of Portugal,” she says. “It feels raw and untouched. The wide-open spaces and empty beaches you can walk on for hours feel so grounding.” A quick trip to Cascais recently reminded her of the sea’s restorative power. “The air is fresher, and I find myself breathing more deeply almost instantly. It feels like a reset to the nervous system.”
Constanze’s story is a testament to a life where style and substance intertwine. Her fragrances recall blooming herbs on a Mallorcan hillside, her quiet mornings nurture creativity, and her travels renew her sense of wonder. Spending time with her while creating this collection reminded us why we chase the places and people that move us. Her way of living left its mark on us and helped shape the spirit of this season’s Faherty journey.
