Rhode Island-based photographer Maaike Bernstrom and her friends recently took a few of our newest arrivals for a spin at Massachusetts’ Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg.

The 45-letter name has the distinction of being the longest of any geographic feature in the entire United States — it comes from Loup, one of the Algonquian languages, and is said to mean “lake divided by islands.”

However, some locals prefer a different translation: "You fish on your side, I'll fish on my side, and no one shall fish in the middle".

“Life’s candid moments are what I am after.” — Maaike Bernstrom
