Designed With Intention

We are committed to making clothes that last as long as possible, in a way that does the least amount of harm to the environment. And while there is always more to improve on, we are committed to using innovative practices to improve our materials, processes, and packaging — and we’ll always do our best to be transparent about where we’re at in that journey.

What We’re Doing Now

By the end of this year, we’re looking to increase the number of styles we make with sustainable elements from 77% to 90%. We’re putting a lot of our focus on making sure our most beloved styles — like the Legend Sweater Shirt — are as eco-friendly as possible. We’ll soon be members of the Textile Exchange, and we’re laying the groundwork to perform a carbon assessment on our warehouses. Internally, we’re also working on developing a coding system to help us scale our goals and communicate everything to you in yearly sustainability reports.

100% Organic Cotton

We love organic cotton: it’s hypoallergenic, doesn’t use any harmful pesticides, and requires 91% less water to grow than conventional varieties. We’re making the swap wherever we can to more eco-friendly fibers on new styles and old favorites — like our bestselling Paloma Duster, which is now made with 100% organic cotton.

Protecting the Environment

If there’s one thing we know, it’s that we’re all #BetterTogether — which is why we partner with incredible organizations like 1% for the Planet and bluesign® to help ensure we preserve and protect the planet and its people. Recently, we made the switch to replace our poly bags with paper bags, and we’ll be 90% plastic-free in packaging by the end of the year. We’re also corporate sponsors of the Surfrider Foundation, supporting their mission to conserve the world’s waterways.
