This month we’re kicking off our new Good Medicine series, a much-needed weekly dose of good news that I’m excited to share with you.

Last week on #GivingTuesday we partnered with Surfrider Foundation for a donation match of $10,000. The Surfrider Foundation is a grassroots nonprofit that’s passionate about protecting our oceans and beaches. They work with environmental experts to create innovative solutions designed to protect the nation’s coastline.

As a family-run company with deep ties to nature, Faherty is committed to giving back to the planet — which is why we’re so proud to have been able to support the Surfrider Foundation’s mission to protect clean water and healthy beaches. The Surfrider Foundation team recently interviewed me about the role companies and individuals can play in coastal conservation, and here are some of the highlights:

As surfers, the ocean is our happy place. We want to protect and preserve it as much as we can.

One of our biggest priorities is using materials that are less harmful to the environment. As much as we can, we use organic cotton (which is better for regenerative farming and uses no pesticides), natural fibers that biodegrade (like linen), and recycled polyester (for our men’s swim).

What we love about Surfrider specifically is that its mission includes a legal team that works on policy change to ensure real legislation is passed that protects the environment.

You can read the entire interview on the Surfrider Foundation website, here

One final note: as of last week, we have face masks available to keep you and your family safe! 100% of proceeds will be donated to United Natives, a nonprofit organization that supports the Navajo Nation, a community hit especially hard by COVID-19. Since the beginning of this health crisis, we’ve been looking for ways to do our part to help, and we will continue to do so any way we can.

We love hearing from you about how you’re finding hope and inspiration right now. Please keep sharing with us what’s helping you feel good during this weird time, and we’ll do the same.

Take good care,
Kerry
