Position Description:

The Director, Accounting is responsible for a wide range of finance workflows, including accounts payable and accounts receivable, and will also assist with ad hoc financial analyses. The accountant will report to the Chief Executive Officer and be integral in the compilation and review of financials. He or she will also be involved in formulating, assessing, and instituting recommendations to reduce costs and improve financial performance.

We are looking for a motivated and passionate leader with an innovative mindset who enjoys challenging work, wearing different hats and willing to run towards the “fire”. He or she voices their opinion in a professional manner, can bring both problems and potential solutions to meaningful discussions with the team, can suggest and implement improvements to processes and takes complete ownership of the roles and responsibilities. He or she should think about the big picture but also appreciate the importance of attention to details.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate monthly close process through posting entries and management of accounting schedules
  • Ensure proper internal controls are implemented and executed throughout all facets and departments of the organization
  • Prepare monthly cash reconciliation through review of bank and credit card statements
  • Assist in the preparation of business analytics and commentary
  • Oversee end-to-end accounts payable process and provide management with cashflow, aging, and liquidity reporting
  • Post customer payments, resolve valid or authorized deductions, and follow up and collect outstanding receivables
  • Collaborate with wholesale manager, sales team, and customers to verify and correct accounts receivable discrepancies
  • Support finance and operations team with ad-hoc requests

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proficient with Quickbooks software and Microsoft Excel a must
  • Professional that thrives in a fast-paced startup environment
  • BS degree in accounting or related field (CPA strongly preferred)
  • 3+ years of experience at a “Big 4” accounting firm in an audit or related role
  • Four of more years of accounting experience, exposure to general ledger, accounts receivable and payable workflows a plus
  • Experience in owning the financial statement close process at a company, which includes preparing/reviewing JEs, preparing/reviewing financial statements, managing the monthly close process and preparing/reviewing analytics
  • Advanced knowledge on accrual accounting and understanding of financial statements
  • Strong time management and communication skills
  • Team player who is comfortable working in a highly cross-functional organization
  • Attention to detail and extremely thorough
  • Familiarity with Bill.com and/or Expensify a plus
  • Experience within retail, production, and apparel industries a plus
