My favorite place in the world is a tiny bay in a tiny town in Canada right across the Buffalo border. We've had a family cottage there my whole life, and the beach is drenched with memories of bonfires, tubing, freeze pops, and family reunions. It's also where Alex and I got married 4 years ago. The internet there is also terrible, which forces me to disconnect.
Besides running marketing and HR at Faherty, you also spearhead women's design. What's your personal style?
I'd say Vintage meets Ethnic meets Tomboy. I live in our Faherty flannels, wear our bathing suit tops as bras (year round), rock vintage jeans, and love our novelty ponchos. My husband and I share clothes, which is either cute or nauseating.
What do you do to relax?
A bath. Every night. Always. Sometimes with a book, sometimes with a candle lit. It heals all.
Hardest part of being in a family business?
The work day is never done. It's Faherty fun--24/7.
You're a new mom. What's it like?
Still figuring it out. I feel more crazed than ever balancing work and Ava's constant needs and yet more at peace than ever because she forces me to be mindful when I'm with her. It's weird, I don't feel like she's mine...she's like the borrowed unknown being whose living with us, but who we love so much.
What's something most people don't know about you?
I love writing poetry. One day, I'll write a children's poetry book. Shel Silverstein watch out.
